Once I started to make my own Homemade Baileys Irish Cream my adult family was so excited, we could add it to any of their favorite holiday drinks.
It’s a great way to impress company over the holiday season when you whip out a jar or jug of this tasty stuff. Plus it is great to give as gifts as well, which they always enjoy.
This tastes almost exactly like Baileys, just a touch thicker, with a rich and fresher taste. Trust me, it’s worth the little bit of work to make your own version.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- Easy to make and faster than running to the liquor store when you need some Baileys.
- You only need 6 simple ingredients.
- Ready in only 3 steps and 5 minutes.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT BOTTOM):
Sweetened condensed milk
Irish Whiskey
Heavy cream
Chocolate syrup
Vanilla extract
Instant coffee granules
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BAILEY’S, STEP BY STEP:
- Place the sweetened condensed milk, whiskey, heavy cream, chocolate syrup, vanilla, and instant coffee into a blender.
- Place the blender on low speed and blend until just combined.
- Serve immediately or pour into bottles and refrigerate until ready to serve.
DO I HAVE TO ADD THIS TO SOMETHING?
No, Baileys Irish Cream can be added to a drink, like coffee, or you can sip on it by itself. Whatever you prefer, this is great to drink alone over some ice.
So do not feel the need to have to add it to drinks, but it is a staple in a lot of amazing drink recipes so you have your options.
WHY DID MY HOMEMADE BAILEYS IRISH CREAM CURDLE?
Unfortunately, this can be a common problem when adding alcohol to any milk based products.
To avoid this, be sure to pour the alcohol in slowly and do not mix on high speed in the blender.
CAN I ADD ANY OTHER FLAVORS?
Add additional extracts for flavor variations to this favorite drink of choice. I suggest almond, coffee (for more of a coffee punch), or peppermint extract.
You could also add butter extract or maple extract to bring more fantastic flavors to this classic drink. The flavor possibilities are endless, although we prefer the original.
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight bottle or jug where it will keep for up to 7 days, stir before enjoying any leftovers.
I do not recommend freezing as the texture might change.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- The most important thing about this Homemade Baileys Recipe is making sure you only blend on low speed and just until combined. You do not want to thicken the cream at all, you just want to mix the ingredients together well, so avoid high speed on the blender.
- You may see in a lot of other recipes that homemade Irish Cream will keep for much longer in the refrigerator, but since we are using heavy cream, I am going by the guidelines of using the cream within 7 days of opening the package. You judge as you see fit. Just make sure it stays refrigerated.
- If you’re making this for a crowd to serve, you can easily double this recipe, just make sure to store it in the refrigerator until serving.
- You can add other flavor extracts to bring some other tasty flavors to this if desired, see some suggestions above.
- Feel free to add this Irish Cream to any of your favorite after dinner drinks.
- This drink is best served very cold or over plenty of ice. This is perfect for sipping as is or adding to your favorite cocktail recipes.
