Want a fun and easy Summer drink that is tasty, quick and perfect for the kids? These Frozen Berry Slushies whip up in minutes and are a fun fruity treat.
So we are supposed to have an “early” heat wave this week with the weather being in the 90’s for almost 6 days straight. It’s weird to think about because literally we had 40 degree weather just a few weeks ago.
But I’m not complaining one bit, I LOVE the heat and will rarely say that it’s too hot. You will hear me ay its too cold thats for sure, but I’m a heat lover so this is my happy place.
These Frozen Berry Slushies are a fun and unique treat that the kids and adults of the house will LOVE. Seriously they are just that easy and that good that you can’t not give them a try.
So they can be switched up with whatever type of fruit your heart desires, we went with strawberries and blueberries because those are two of our favorite fruity flavors together.
We used frozen strawberries in this recipe instead of ice, we don’t want the slushies to be watered down and have as much flavor action going on so we decided to not really dilute them with much of anything and wanted to preserve that fruity flavor.
So the addition of blueberries was really a last minute idea. My neighbor said that I should throw some in there and I listened and the rest is history. I was really happy that I listened because not only do the blueberries cream a fun color combination it really enhances the flavor of these Frozen Berry Slushies.
WHY DO YOU CALL THESE SLUSHIES?
So I have no real good reason as to why I called these slushies. I mean frozen lemonade was out because we really only use about 3 Tbs of lemonade concentrate in these. SO I wanted to come up with a fun name that the kids would love.
I know that my kids are obsessed with slushies and figured that would be a good name, but these Frozen Berry Slushies are a lot “healthier” that the ones that you find out of the machine at your local gas station for sure.
WHAT IS IN THESE SLUSHIES?
Ok so there is really minimal ingredients in these:
- 12 oz bag of frozen strawberries
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 3 Tbs lemonade concentrate
- 1 12 oz can lemon-lime soda
- 3 Tbs sugar!
I mean that is all. You mix them all up in the blender and you have yourself one heck of a snack.
HOW MUCH DO THESE MAKE?
So it makes around 3 medium sized glasses worth. So if you’re looking to double the batch its really quite easy which I love that we can easily do that and easily adapt that as well.
So if you’re looking for a fun and refreshing way to cool down this summer then you need to try these Frozen Berry Slushies. Your kids will love you, you’ll love yourself for making these and don’t say I told you but when night hits….these are easily able to be spiked with your favorite liquor!
