With an array of delicious flavors that goes down smoothly, this Blackberry Bourbon Smash is a great spring and summer cocktail.
I love when it comes to fruit drinks, especially when the weather gets a little warmer and you want something to quench that.
This Blackberry Bourbon Smash is a super simple cocktail that has readily available ingredients.
Blackberries are one of my favorite fruits, I just cannot get enough of them in all the things, especially this drink.
With the bourbon, honey, lime and club soda – you get this flavor combination that is bubbly and refreshing.
You can find a Bourbon Smash in so many other flavors, but like I said I love fruit drinks so the blackberries really make this so so tasty.
If you are a cocktail lover and want to try something new, you have to make this Blackberry Bourbon Smash!
Some of my other favorite fruit centered drinks we have on our site include: Strawberry Mojito, Mai Tai and Tequila Sunrise.

HOW TO MAKE A BLACKBERRY BOURBON SMASH, STEP BY STEP:
- Muddle the lime juice, blackberries, and honey together in a bowl or bottom of a cocktail shaker.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, the muddled ingredients and bourbon. Shake until well combined.
- Strain the mixture into two serving glasses with ice.
- Top each off with the club soda.
- Garnish with fresh blackberries and/or a rosemary sprig.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MUDDLE?
Muddling is to use a “muddler” to muddle or mash the ingredient together to release their flavors.
This is done in a variety of recipes using fruit, mint, and so much more.
DO I HAVE TO USE HONEY?
They honey adds sweetness to this Bourbon Smash, but you can also use simple syrup or granulated sugar as well.
DOES THIS NEED TO BE STRAINED?
Technically no, a lot of these are not strained at all. We strain ours just because of the ease of it.
But if you do not want to strain this then after you shake your ingredients together just pour into the glasses without the top of the cocktail shaker.
WHAT KIND OF BOURBON SHOULD I USE?
You can really use any of your favorite bourbons for this from top shelf to budget friendly. Some brands that we have used include:
- Knob Creek
- Makers Mark
- Woodford Reserve
- Jim Beam
- Elijah Craig
- Evan Williams
- Benchmark
Like I said, you can use your favorite bourbon for this recipe! Expensive or cheap, we do not judge!
HOW TO STORE:
We do not recommend storing this cocktail, it is best served right when it is made.
