With delicious spice and creaminess this One Pot Cajun Pasta is the perfect weeknight meal that has minimal clean up and the whole family will enjoy.
I love cajun anything. My mom used to live in Mississippi so she brought back some delicious recipes with her that we make over and over again to this day.
The spices that are used in cajun dishes are wonderful, now this may not be authentic cajun cooking but I absolutely adore this One Pot Cajun Pasta.
It is a simple weeknight meal with with four kids to feed we like when we don’t have to dirty many dishes and they love the ingredients that are used in this.
I am blessed to not have picky eaters who love all varieties of spice levels, so this has become one of theirs and my favorite meals and we make it at least once a month.
It is a simple dish with easy to find ingredients that you don’t have to search high and low for! And one pot meals are some of my favorite dishes to make.
Some of our other favorite pasta dishes that we have on our site include Pepperjack Bacon Mac and Cheese, Sloppy Joe Casserole and Ground Beef Carbonara.

CAN I MAKE THIS SPICIER?
If you really like spice yes you can, you can add more of the creole seasoning tasting as you go. Another way that we make ours spicier is to swap out the smoked sausage for andouille.
We love andouille and use it in a lot of our dishes that we want a little extra kick to and it works out perfectly and it is easy to find.
WHAT KIND OF PASTA SHOULD I USE?
We use penne for this Cajun Pasta Recipe. You can use any smaller pasta such as bowties, corkscrews, elbow macaroni and more.
Pretty much whatever you have on hand you can use but you don’t want to go too big or too small because then it won’t soak up the liquid or get the noodles done.
HOW TO STORE:
This Cajun Pasta can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days, reheat in the microwave to serve.
This can also be frozen, place in an airtight container or freezer bag with air pushed out and place it in the freezer where it will keep for up to 4 months.
To defrost, remove from freezer and place in the refrigerator overnight until thawed. Reheat in the microwave again before serving.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You an swap out the smoked sausage for andouille sausage for a spicier flavor.
- Taste the seasoning as you go, add more if you want it a little spicier and less for less spice.
- You can use any smaller noodle that you want, see my suggestions above.
- This can be frozen, see my tips above on how to do that.
- This goes great with a side salad and some garlic bread.

Absolutely one do the best recipes ever! But one thingโฆ. I did exactly what the directions said, but I couldnโt get the broth to soak in all the way. It ended up almost like a soup. How do I fix that?

Can’t wait to try this recipe. Could I use crushed tomatoes vs diced.
Thanks, Jan
