A deliciously spiced healthy drink, this Low Carb Golden Milk is the perfect way to end your evening!
So lately I’ve been really pushing myself to incorporate more turmeric into my diet. I’ve seen from so many healthy food bloggers about all the healing and health benefits that it actually has and I figured, hey, it’s a spice it can’t hurt any!
So one of the things that I’ve been making a lot lately is something called Golden Milk! You guys, this stuff is literally gold. Well and figuratively! Turmeric has the tendency to dye things yellow so it’s perfect for coloring your food if you’re looking for that, or even used as a dye for some fabrics.
And when I say that it dyes things, it does. It dyed our stainless steel sink yellow for a while until we finally decided to really scrub that puppy. My fingers and tables have been yellow a lot lately too, let’s just say that I’m not the neatest blogger around….I guess that’s why I’m called Tornadough Alli!
Ok so getting back to this Golden Milk. So I’ve been trying to eat low carb lately and that includes anything I drink. Usually I’m not the person to drink their meals so I’ve always been a diet pop kinda girl, I don’t drink alcohol and I really don’t drink a whole lot of milk unless it’s Almond.
So when I set out to have this tea I wanted to go low-carb with it. So this drink per cup has maybe a scant trace of carbs, because luckily everything used in this has 0 or >1g carbs! Woo-hoo. Who said eating and drinking healthy has to be hard.
So let’s talk about what you’ll all need for these delicious drinks! Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk, Organic Coconut Oil, Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Pepper (helps absorbtion of tumeric) and some Stevia! I know, it’s so weird seeing me talk about a healthy recipe right! Hey now, I can eat healthy when I want to and right now this is what this girl needs!
So you pretty much mix everything in pan and simmer until nice and hot and steeped and then you strain it all out and serve. How easy is that?! I mean honestly this is such an easy recipe it’s something you can make nightly to help with sleep since warm milk has been known to aid in that.
OHHHHHHH….so I was at Ikea this weekend and I picked up myself a milk frother and oh man you guy’s I’m completely obsessed with that thing!! I use it to give this Golden Milk a little foam on top that made it feel like I was drinking myself a delicious latte!
So I said that I used stevia for this, I have a little liquid bottle that I like to use to sweeten up things like drinks, tea and such since it is a zero carb sweetener and I love it. But for this recipe it is completely optional, you can add to your liking. A lot of people usually add honey to their recipes but in keep with this being low carb, I went with stevia.
So if you’re looking for a delicious, healthier drink then I highly recommend giving this Golden Milk a try, it’s safe and delicious enough for the whole family to enjoy!
