Snacks are big in our house. We always are looking for something quick to munch on and this Crispix Mix Recipe is one of those that is really a great grab and go treat that we like to have on hand.
My mom has made this my whole life, and to be honest I used to hate it. Not sure why, I would never eat it as a kid and would turn my nose up at it, but as an adult our flavor profiles change.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- Minimal ingredients makes this recipe super easy to whip up.
- You can add any kind of nuts that you desire, while traditionally we use peanuts in this recipe you can use whatever you like or have on hand.
- A little bit of cooling hardens this into a crispy and crunchy recipe that is super tasty.

We love snack mixes in our house, some of our favorite ones that we have made in the past include Buffalo Ranch Snack Mix, Ranch Cocktail Crackers and this Cherry Chocolate Pistachio Trail Mix.
What we love most about this Crispix Mix is that it seems to last forever, or it could go in one sitting depending on how many people you serve.
It is perfect for the holidays, to have on hand to munch on, parties or football games. It is one of those treats that is so addicting that everyone just seems to love.
HOW TO STORE CRISPIX MIX:
This is best stored in a Tupperware container or a zip top bag and should keep for about a month. If it is not stored properly it obtains moisture and will get sticky.
I do not recommending feeding this mix either, it will obtain too much moisture when it comes to room temperature that it will turn pretty much into mush.
CAN I MAKE THIS WITH CHEX CEREAL?
I don’t see why you couldn’t make this with Chex Cereal at all. It has pretty much the same texture and flavor of crispix and sometimes crispix cereal can be hard to find in certain parts of the country.
There really is just a simplicity to this recipe that makes us keep coming back to making it year after year. We usually make it during the holiday season with all of our other holiday recipes, as it’s always requested.
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR MAKING CRISPIX MIX:
- Use a large microwave safe bowl when mixing your crispix and peanuts since this will be needed to be microwaved.
- You can use any kind of nuts that you like and think would complement the salty sweet aspect of the recipe.
- Make sure you stir every minute in the five minutes of microwaving, this ensures that the coating is evenly applied to each piece and it doesn’t clump up.
- Spread as evenly onto a baking sheet as you can, you can also turn this out onto a parchment lined countertop if you have the room.

I made this with unsalted pecans that I toasted in the oven (at 250 F, 9 mins each side). After I spread the mix onto parchment, I sprinkled a pinch of sea salt to get that salty/sweet juxtaposition.
Loved this recipe and so did everyone who tried it!

In the beginning of post under step 3 you reference adding baking powder. In the recipe and instructions you say baking soda. Which is the right ingredient?

I’m sorry about that, it’s baking soda.
