HOW TO MAKE A COPYCAT STARBUCKS TURKEY PESTO SANDWICH, STEP BY STEP:
- Preheat a panini grill over medium heat. If you have a flat plate side to the panini maker, use that.
- Brush the outside of both pieces of bread with olive oil.
- Open the bread up and spread a generous amount of pesto on the inside of both sides of both rolls.
- Place 1-2 pieces of cheese on the bottom piece followed by ¼ of the turkey.
- Place some roasted red peppers on top followed by the top part of the roll.
- Place the sandwich on the panini grill and close the lid. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sandwich warm.
- Slice in half and enjoy.
DO I HAVE TO USE A PANINI PRESS TO MAKE THIS SANDWICH?
No, alternatively, you could cook this on the stove over medium low heat and use a grill press on top of the sandwich.
If you don’t have a grill press, one secret that I used back in the day is fill a teapot up with water and use that to press down my sandwiches.
I DON’T LIKE PEPPERS, CAN I USE SOMETHING ITS PLACE?
If you are not a fan of peppers, you can also use tomatoes in this recipe. The flavor will not be the same but it will still taste amazing.
WHAT IS THE BEST TYPE OF TURKEY TO USE?
We choose to get our turkey from the deli instead of buying it pre packaged.
You don’t want to get it too thinly sliced because you obviously want the turkey to be part of the show.
It’s best if you can scrunch the meat up before putting it on the roll rather than stacking it.
CAN I MAKE MY OWN HOMEMADE PESTO?
Absolutely, if you are not keen on store bought pesto and make your own at home you can do that.
We use a basil pesto which we thinks tastes the best, but use whatever type of pesto that you have on hand.
HOW TO STORE:
Although they are best eaten right away they be stored assembled in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 3 days.
We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
To reheat, place in the air fryer at 330 degrees F for about 5-6 minutes until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- If you like a cheesy sandwich, use 2 pieces of cheese instead of one.
- We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
- Easily double this recipe to serve more people.
- If you are not a fan of roasted red peppers you can use tomato in it’s place.
- You can make this on the stove if needed, see above on how to do that.
