Spicy and sweet these amazing BBQ Chicken Pineapple Pizza Pockets are a quick, easy hand held treat for game day, tailgaiting or anytime!
Football season has finally begun! This is one of my favorite times of year, not so much because of the sports aspect, but for the food aspect. If you have been following my blog for any period of time you know that I’m CRAZY about appetizers. Like legit crazy. Building a whole meal around delicious finger food, snackable treats and delectable dips is just my nature.
Well that and dessert, we can’t forget how much I like dessert. I think I’ve made that abundantly clear. My life consists off of love for appetizers and cake. I’m pretty content with that. I think my husband would be content with that too…minus the dessert part. He’s no fun there…he hasn’t really lived yet, shhhh.
If you’ve even stepped foot inside Walmart then you know that they have a pretty awesome hot deli. We are addicted to their wings. My husband is a General Tso’s fan and I’m a Honey BBQ type of gal, so we usually get a bucket of both. Right now they have a pretty awesome deal where you can get 20 wings for $10 (bone-in or boneless). Yes please!! Who wouldn’t love a 20 for $10 deal!!
So me being the wing addict that I am, I just couldn’t pass up that deal. So home I went with a big bucket of 20 Honey BBQ wings with me. Obviously grinning ear to ear on the way out. That’s just my style, I’m sure a few of you can relate there right along with me.
This time I actually felt like switching up my wing routine. I wanted to see what I could create out of them to make something new. That’s how these utterly amazing BBQ Chicken Pineapple Pizza Pockets were created. Yeah, let that sink in a moment. BBQ and pineapple just go together so nicely. It’s a little sweet heat behind every bite.
So these little pockets are like your own personal mini calzones, but much more simpler. 5 ingredients? 15 minutes? Who would want to pass that opportunity up? Besides, you don’t want to make those game day fans wait too long for their food. Also with 4 kids under 1 roof, quick and easy is key. And woo-hoo for these puppies being kid-friendly. My kids inhaled them, barely left me any.
The already prepared chicken wings makes this perfect. I know what you’re thinking…”a chicken wing stuffed inside dough?” Believe you me when I say, it works and it is amazing. You get chicken in each bite you take with this! And who doesn’t want the best part of a dish in each bite? I know this girl isn’t complaining and neither was anyone else.
How about I walk you through these BBQ Chicken Pineapple Pizza Pockets shall we? You start out with 2 rolls of crescent roll dough. Keep those bad boys in squares and pinch the perforations together and stretch out the dough a little bit. Next spread the bottoms with a little BBQ sauce then top with one of the BBQ Chicken Wings…
Add a few pieces of pineapple tidbits, sprinkle with some cheese and fold the top over. Rub the tops with some butter, and sprinkle with some parmesan and Italian seasoning and bake until golden. Seriously, that’s it! How much more simple is that?!
Now if you’re unsure on where to find all the delicious wings that Walmart has, just head over to their deli section and they will be in the hot case! Some amazing flavors are there to enjoy – General Tso’s, Honey BBQ, Buffalo, Ranch…seriously so many! You have your choice between boneless and bone-in or a combination of both!
Wings at the Walmart Hot Deli counter are a great deal, amazing quality, tasty, fast and convenient. Perfect for that game day treat, tailgating excursion or a fun get together! What do you have planned this season to use your 20 for $10 Wings?
