FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON A TORTELLINI BAKE:
CAN I USE FROZEN TORTELLINI?
Absolutely, we use refrigerated because it saves us some time but you can use frozen tortellini as well.
Just make sure that you cook it before you add it to your Tortellini Bake.
CAN I USE OTHER MEATS?
You can, although we love to use both ground beef and ground italian sausage, you do not have to use those if you are not a fan, or you can use one or the other.
Ground turkey and chicken will work as well as shredded rotisserie chicken too. If you are using shredded chicken, warm it in the marinara sauce on the stovetop before tossing with the tortellini and going on with the remaining steps.
DO I HAVE TO USE CHEESE TORTELLINI?
You can use any tortellini that you like and would think that would work well with this recipe. Don’t feel that you just have to be stuck with cheese for this, branch out and try others and find what you like best.
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 3 days.
This can also be frozen, place tortellini in a freezer container and it will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator overnight until thawed.
To reheat, add a little bit more sauce to the recipe as it may dry out a little bit and stir. Then you can place in the microwave until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- We like to use lean ground beef for this, at least 85/15 but you can use what you have on hand, it just might be greasier.
- We use refrigerated tortellini but frozen can be used as well, just make sure it is cooked.
- This can be frozen, see my tips above.
- Use any meat that you like, see tips above also on what you can use.
- Try this with different flavors of tortellini.
- Double this recipe to serve more people or have on hand for later.
