Jello shots are usually made with white rum or vodka. For our Jello Shots, we use Absolut, but you can use whatever vodka you prefer. Some of our other favorite include:
- Grey Goose
- Svedka
- Belvedere
- Pinnacle
- Skyy
- Smirnoff
- Tito’s

CAN THESE BE MADE AHEAD?
Yes, you can make these Jello 4th of July Shots about 3-5 days in advance. Just be sure to keep them in the refrigerator with the lid on.
HOW LONG DO THE JELLO SHOTS NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED?
These Jello Shots need to be refrigerated for 4 hours so they can set before you consume them. If you leave them any sooner you run the risk of them being watery and not fully formed, trust me it is worth the wait!
CAN I ADD MORE VODKA TO THESE JELL-O VODKA SHOTS?
If you want to add more vodka, I recommend using 3/4 cups of vodka and 1/4 cup cold water. When you add more vodka to the jello shot, you risk it not firming up like it’s supposed to.
HOW TO STORE:
Store 4th of July Jell-O shots in the refrigerator with the lids on, or in an airtight container with a lid. If leaving in the individual cups and you don’t have the lids, you can cover them with plastic wrap. These will keep for up to 5 days.
TIPS AND TRICKS:

- Wait to add the whipped cream and cherry to the shots right before serving.
- You can layer both the Strawberry and Berry Blue Jello in one shot container if you want, this does require it to set up twice.
- If you want to add more vodka, be sure to read above in the FAQ section so you don’t add too much and end up with Jello that won’t set right.
