Super easy to throw together, this Fudge Pie is absolutely delicious, rich, perfect for any occasion and will fix that chocolate craving.
If you love fudge, then you will absolutely love this Fudge Pie. This is an older recipe that we’ve been making for a long time.
Back in the day we would make the fillings in the blender to get everything mixed together quickly and we still continue this today.
Fudge is one of my favorite treats, and when you turn that dessert into a pie, you really have a match made in heaven.
With a golden crust on the top, it gives way to a smooth and chocolatey filling that is absolutely irresistible.
This is one of those dessert recipes that you can make any time of year, but we love to make them for gatherings – but also to have at home but you may just eat it all yourself.
If you have a chocolate craving and really want to satisfy it, then you have to blend up this Fudge Pie.
Some of my other favorite chocolate recipes that we have on our site include: Chocolate Cheesecake Dip, Chocolate Sugar Cookies and Chocolate Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal ingredients, this comes together quickly.
- This will absolutely satisfy your chocolate craving.
- With its rich flavor, a lot goes a long way.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST):
Eggs
Granulated sugar
Evaporated milk
Salted butter
Cocoa powder
Vanilla extract
Refrigerated pie crust
HOW TO MAKE A FUDGE PIE, STEP BY STEP:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a blender, place the eggs, sugar, evaporated milk, butter, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract.
- Blend on high for 2 minutes. The mixture will be frothy. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes.
- Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Pour the mixture into the pie crust, about ยพ the way full.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes. The middle will be slightly shaky but the outside of that will be firm.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to completely cool before cutting.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE THIS IN A BLENDER?
We have always used a blender for this recipe, you can also use a food processor.
I don’t usually and never really tried using a hand mixer for this recipe, so I can’t guarantee that things will get mixed together properly.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CRUST BROWNS TOO QUICKLY?
Since this pie does bake for a longer time, there is a chance that your crust will brown quicker.
Check your pie after 25-30 minutes and if it is browning place crust covers over the crust or use tinfoil.
WILL I HAVE ANY LEFTOVER FILLING?
Depending on the amount of froth, you may have additional filling. Fill the pie crust about ยพ the way full.
This will puff up some while cooking, but then it will deflate as it cools so it will leave room to top with whipped topping if desired.
DO I HAVE TO LET THE PIE MIXTURE SIT AFTER BLENDING?
Yes, we suggest letting the filling sit for about 5 minutes after you are done blending together.
This will help everything settle and leave time for the air bubbles to dissipate.
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap or foil and it will keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
You can also freeze this pie, place in a freezer container or wrap in plastic wrap and then foil and it will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator until thawed, then you can move it to the countertop to come to room temperature if you’d like.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- After making this pie multiple times, there is always a little froth that remains on the top of the pie. This gives that slightly golden crust on the top and then the filling is smooth and chocolatey.
- This can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
- If you don’t have a blender you can use a food processor.
- Make sure you let the filling sit 5 minutes after blending.
- If you want you can add in some chopped nuts or chocolate chips for some texture.
- You may have leftover filling, that is fine. Make sure that you fill to just 3/4 full.
- Use a store-bought or homemade pie crust.
- Chop your butter into smaller pieces to help it blend better.
When it comes to a delicious and easy dessert, you cannot go wrong with this Fudge Pie, perfect for any and all occasions.
