In a medium-sized bowl add the eggnog, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt and whisk together until fully combined.
Place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Add 1 tablespoon of butter into the pan once it becomes hot. Next, dip a piece of the sliced bread into the eggnog mixture, making sure to soak both sides, then let any excess mixture drip off back into the bowl.
Place the piece of soaked bread into the hot pan. You do not want to crowd your pan, you will need to cook in batches of about 2.
Cook until they are golden brown on both sides, this should take about 3-4 minutes per side.
Place on a baking tray while you cook the remaining pieces. If desired you can place the tray into a warm oven to keep them warm before serving.
Add another tablespoon of butter before adding the next pieces of bread.
To serve, add a dusting of powdered sugar and maple syrup if desired.
