Mezcal Margarita
Tart, a bit sweet, smokey and absolutely delicious this Mezcal Margarita is a fun drink that is super easy to whip up for cocktail hour!

- 2 limes divided
- 1 Tablespoon coarse salt for rimming
- Ice
- 3 ounces Mezcal or silver tequila
- 2 ounces Cointreau
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- Lime wedge or slices optional
Salt your glass by wetting the rim with a lime wedge, and then place it upside down in a shallow plate that has been sprinkled with salt.
Fill a shaker cup with some ice and add in an ounce of lime juice, Mezcal (or tequila), Cointreau and granulated sugar.
Shake well for about a minute and then pour into glass and garnish with lime if desired.
- If you don't want to use Mezcal you can use silver tequila for this recipe.
- Make sure that you are using fresh lime juice.
- Easily double or triple this recipe to serve more people.
- Use your favorite orange liqueur, we like to use Cointreau.
- Rim the glass with other things, see above for some ideas.
- If you want it sweeter add some agave or simple syrup a little at a time until you reach your desired sweetness.
- This is great for parties, gatherings, taco night, etc.
