Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces white rum
  • ½ ounce lime juice fresh squeezed
  • ½ ounce orange curacao
  • ½ ounce orgeat syrup
  • Ice
  • ¾ ounce dark rum
  • Garnishes: maraschino cherry lime, pineapple, mint

Instructions

  • Grab your cocktail shaker, fill it with ice, and pour the white rum, lime juice, orange curacao, and orgeat syrup. Shake vigorously.
  • Pour your drink into your glass filled with ice.
  • Add your dark top so it floats, pouring slowly.
  • Add garnishes of your choice, such as maraschino cherries, limes, pineapple, and mint.

Notes

  1. An aged rum or dark rum work great for floaters in this Mai Tai Recipe.
  2. For the cocktail mixer, you can use white rum, which can also be referred to as light rum, white rum, or silver rum.
  3. Honey or simple syrup is also another alternative to use to make a slightly different variation of this Mai Tai Recipe.
  4. Serve your cocktail in a chilled glass to keep your drink cold longer.
  5. Wait to serve over ice until you're ready to enjoy it.
  6. This can be made in a pitcher for guests, see above on how to do that.
