Ingredients

  • 2 ½ Tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Whisk the cornstarch, cinnamon, and sugar in a saucepan.
  • Add the apple and lemon juice and heat over medium-high heat, whisking frequently until boiling.
  • Boil for 3 minutes then remove from heat and add the butter. Whisk till smooth.
  • The syrup will thicken as it cools. Serve over pancakes or your other favorite things!

Notes

  1. Do not forget the cornstarch, this will help thicken up the syrup.
  2. It will get thicker as it cools, you can heat it in the microwave or on the stovetop to thin it out for serving.
  3. You can use half brown sugar and half granulated sugar for a deeper flavor.
  4. Apple cider can be used in place of apple juice.
  5. Make sure that you are boiling it long enough so the syrup thickens and is not to runny.
  6. If you want a more rich cinnamon flavor, boil some cinnamon sticks in with the syrup.
  7. This can be served with a bunch of things, see above for some ideas.
