Strawberry Mousse

Creamy, fluffy and with a sweet and tart puree - this Strawberry Mousse is an easy dessert that comes together effortlessly.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces strawberries cleaned, hulled, and sliced (1 pound)
  • ½ cup strawberry jam
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Set ½ cup sliced strawberries aside for garnish.
  • Add strawberries, jam, and granulated sugar to a blender and puree until smooth.
  • Spoon ¼ cup of strawberry puree into 4 8-ounce serving containers/jars/glasses.
  • Add heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to chilled bowl of stand mixer (or use a hand mixer) and beat until stiff peaks form.
  • Remove ½ cup whipped cream and set aside for topping.
  • Poor strawberry mixture into whipped cream, then very gently fold until combined.
  • Spoon mousse mixture over the top of the strawberry puree.
  • Place in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours or until set.
  • Top mousse with a dollop of remaining whipped cream, and strawberry slices, then serve.

Notes

  1. You can use jelly instead of jam, but we highly recommend jam.
  2. This needs to chill for at least 2-4 hours for the optimal texture.
  3. Easily double this recipe to serve more people.
  4. We use 8 ounce serving containers for this recipe, but you could use 4 ounce and make 8 servings.
  5. The strawberry puree can be placed on the bottom of the container, or on top of the mousse, or you could layer it throughout.
  6. We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
  7. This has a nice blend of strawberry flavor.
  8. You can leave out the strawberry puree from garnishing your mousse, but you will have leftovers since you will need to make it to use in the mousse mixture.
