In the bowl of a stand mixer combine water, milk, yeast, coconut oil, salt, brown sugar and about half of the flour.
Mix well using a dough hook attachment. You could also use a large bowl and wooden spoon/ your hands.
Gradually add remaining flour. Dough should be slightly sticky but not stick to your fingers.
Knead dough for 3-4 minutes.
Place dough in a large lightly greased bowl and cover with saran wrap.
Allow dough to rise for about 1 hour. It should double in size.
Remove dough from bowl and knead a few more times.
Form an evenly shaped ball and cut into 8 equally sized pieces.
Roll each dough ball into a strip about 1 inch in diameter.
Cut the strip into 6-8 equally sized pieces.
Prepare a baking soda bath by boiling water in a large stock pot and then SLOWLY add ½ cup baking soda.
Place each pretzel piece into the bath for about 30 seconds.
Remove from the bath and place on parchment lined baking sheets.
Use a basting brush to brush butter onto each pretzel piece and then sprinkle salt sea salt onto pieces.
Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
