Rum Balls

With delicious cookies, nuts and alcohol and more, these Rum Balls are the perfect holiday treat! Easy to whip up, great for a crowd, and always a hit!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups ground vanilla wafers 75 cookies
  • 1 cup ground pecans
  • 1 cup powdered sugar plus more for rolling
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder plus more for rolling
  • ¼ cup spiced rum we use Captain Morgan
  • 3 Tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons water
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles cocoa powder and powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  • Place the vanilla wafers, pecans, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
  • Whisk to combine and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the rum, corn syrup, water, and vanilla. Pour the liquid into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
  • Stir together until combined.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll 1 Tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture between your hands to form a ball, place on the baking sheet, not touching. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  • Roll the rum balls in your choice of powdered sugar, cocoa powder, or sprinkles or all three.
  • Serve and enjoy!

  2. These do not require refrigeration before rolling or consuming, but if you want a stiffer ball, you can refrigerate.
  3. These can be frozen, see my tips above on how to do that.
  4. You can substitute rum for other liquors or liquids, see my tips above.
  5. You can roll in many things such as coconut, powdered sugar, sprinkles, cocoa powder, nuts, etc.
  6. These make a batch of 32, you can easily halve or double this recipe depending on how many you are serving.
  7. Using a food processor is the best way to crush up your cookies and pecans.
