  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbs granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Whipped cream for topping

  • Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and whisk together until combined.
  • Cook over medium-high heat until the sugar has dissolved and barely comes to a light simmer.
  • Remove from heat and divide between two mugs or glasses and top with whipped cream.

  1. Nutritional facts are not calculated with whipped cream.
  2. For a thicker hot chocolate, half & half or heavy cream may be used instead of milk.
  3. This recipe makes two 8+ ounce portions or three 5+ ounce portions.
  4. The drink is quite rich, but so creamy and delicious. Anyone who loves eggnog will love this and even if you don’t, it might surprise you!
  5. We like to top it with whipped cream and add some nutmeg to add to the flavor, that is completely optional.
  6. You can use homemade eggnog or store bought, that is up to you (I have a Homemade Eggnog linked above).
  7. You can easily double this recipe to serve larger crowds.
  8. Any un drunk portions need to be refrigerated.
