Chocolate Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 3 oz bag butter flavored microwave popcorn, popped

Instructions

  • Pop popcorn as directed on package and pour in large bowl. Remove all unpopped kernels from popcorn and set aside
  • In a medium saucepan, melt chocolate chips, brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Keep stirring until mixture boils. Remove from heat and add in vanilla and baking soda.
  • Combine with popcorn stirring with a rubber spatula. (Lightly grease spatula if mixture is sticking.)
  • Once mixed, pour popcorn mixture onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 250 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Remove from over and let cool. Separate mixture into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

  1. You can use any kind of standard 3ish oz popcorn that you'd like.
  2. You can also use any kind of chocolate that you would like, semi-sweet, milk or dark.
  3. Make sire the popcorn is completely cooled before you break into pieces. 
  4. Keep this is a cool dry place so the chocolate doesn't melt.
  5. You can add additional add ins such as nuts if you'd like, they make delicious additions and we add them all the time.
  6. This recipe can easily be doubled to feed more people.
