Seven Layer Salad

If you want a quick and easy summertime salad this Seven Layer Salad is always a hit, quick to whip up, seven ingredients and a surefire hit at your next get together.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Lettuce shredded
  • 1/2 Large Red Onion diced
  • 1 1/2 cups Fresh Sweet Peas or frozen defrosted peas
  • 3/4 cup Real Mayo
  • 1 1/2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups Bacon crisped and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup Green Onion chopped
  • 1 Tbs sugar optional

Instructions

  • In a round 2-quart glass dish, layer the shredded lettuce in an even layer on the bottom.
  • Layer the red onion next, followed by the peas.
  • On top of the peas, carefully spread the mayo (mix sugar into mayo if using) in an even layer, being sure to get it all
  • the way to the edge.
  • On top of the mayo, place the cheese, followed by the crumbled bacon, and ending with
  • the green onion on top.

Notes

  1. There are so many different options you can add to this salad such as hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. 
  2. We usually make this recipe in a trifle bowl, but if you have a large 3-4 square baking pan, you can layer it in there as well.
  3. It is totally optional to add sugar to your mayo mixture, if you  like the added sweetness, go for it! We go off and on using and not using it depending on how we are feeling.
  4. You can substitute Miracle Whip for the may  if you would like and prefer that flavor, I know there are people who are die bard mayo lovers and vice versa.
  5. This is best served chilled, although it CAN be eaten right away, you want the flavors to mingle a little bit.
