Ingredients

  • 4 sub sandwich rolls
  • 1 pound pre-cooked frozen Italian meatballs.
  • 22 oz of your favorite marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1/3 cup butter very soft
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly shredded cheese mozzarella, parmesan, provolone, etc
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  • Place sauce and meat balls into a large pot and simmer on medium heat until meatballs are heated through.
  • In bowl mix butter, garlic powder and parsley.
  • Cut rolls open with a sharp knife, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  • Spread each half of the rolls with garlic butter and place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, just until lightly toasted.
  • Turn off the broiler and turn oven to 350 degrees.
  • When meatballs are fully heated, pile them on one half of each roll and top with a few spoons of extra sauce.
  • Add shredded cheese to the top of the meatballs.
  • Place in oven for about 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Sprinkle with oregano and serve.

Notes

  1. You can use homemade or frozen meatballs for this recipe, the choice is up to you, frozen is quicker.
  2. You can also use homemade spaghetti sauce (recipe linked above) or marinara if you choose rather than jarred.
  3. Use the garlic butter mixture, it really gives a great flavor to the sandwich itself.
  4. This can be reheated if you have leftovers, referenced above as well.
  5. Use freshly shredded cheese, it melts better than bagged cheese as it has less preservatives.
