Crispix Mix

Ingredients

  • 12 oz crispix cereal
  • 12-16 oz salted peanuts
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  • In large microwave safe bowl mix togeter crispiz and peanuts until combined, set aside.
  • In large pan add your butter, sugar and corn syrup and bring to a bowl mixing until combined.
  • Remove from heat and mix in your baking soda.
  • Pour mixture over crispix and peanuts and stir to combined.
  • Microwave for 5 minutes stirring after each minute.
  • Pour out onto parchment paper lined baking sheet or counter top and set set up for about 1 hour and then bread into pieces.

Notes

  1. Use a large microwave safe bowl when mixing your crispix and peanuts since this will be needed to be microwaved.
  2. You can use any kind of nuts that you like and think would complement the salty sweet aspect of the recipe. 
  3. Make sure you stir every minute in the five minutes of microwaving, this ensures that the coating is evenly applied to each piece and it doesn't clump up.
  4. Spread as evenly onto a baking sheet as you can, you can also turn this out onto a parchment lined countertop if you have the room.
