Chocolate Gravy

Creamy, chocolately and utterly delicious this Chocolate Gravy is a Southern staple that is lick your finger good! Only 6 ingredients and under 15 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbs flour
  • 2 Tbs cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • In sauce pan mix together your sugar, flour and cocoa.
  • Whisk in your water until combined then continue whisking while adding milk.
  • Bring to a gentle boil and reduce heat and simmer until gravy thickens, stirring continually.
  • Once thickened add your butter and vanilla and continue to simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly more.
  • Serve with biscuits, scones or whatever you fancy!

Notes

  1. We like to use unsweetened cocoa powder, but you can use dutch process.
  2. This can be frozen, please reference my notes above on how to do that.
  3. This can be served on a variety of delicious desserts or just eaten with a spoon (that might just be me though).
  4. This is best served warm, it will thicken as it cools.
