Are you guy’s as excited about Halloween as this girl? Can’t you tell by my posts lately that I just can’t wait? So when you guy’s think of Halloween movies what is the epitome of movies that you envision? Obviously there is the cult classic horror movies, but come on now, I gotta keep this blog semi kid-friendly as I suppose I do have 4 children! My mind automatically goes to The Nightmare Before Christmas. That is such an iconic movie to me and I still love it to this day. Thank you Netflix for letting me relive my childhood over and over again! I love being able to show my kids movies from my childhood because even know the animation and quality are better on some these days, the good old ones will still remain a favorite.
Isn’t this cookie cake just frightenly cute?!?! It’s a giant chocolate cookie, filled with candy corn and baked in a skillet! Of course I showed you how I love to melt my frosting in this post here, of course I had to do it again to make this nice sheer white face with black accents! I tell you, that melted frosting is so easy to work with, plus it firms up in to the perfect glaze! Love love love it!! This cookie would be a great center piece at any Halloween party you go to! The kids will have a blast eating this and the adults will have just as much fun!

- 1 stick butter, softened
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3/4-1 cup candy corn
- 1 can white frosting
- Black food coloring
- Pre-heat oven to 350.
- Grease or butter a 10 1/2" (can be a little smaller as well) cast iron skillet liberally on all sides.
- In bowl with hand mixer, mix together your butter and sugars.
- Add in your egg and vanilla.
- In separate bowl combine your flour, cocoa power, baking powder and baking soda.
- Gradually mix into the butter mixture until just combined.
- Gently stir in your candy corn.
- Spoon batter into skillet and spread out until even, leaving a small gap between the batter and the edge of the skillet.
- Bake for about 15-17 minutes or until center is set and toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature.
- Meanwhile, remove about 1/2 the frosting from the can and place in microwave safe bowl. Microwave for about 20 seconds or until melted. Pour over cooled cake.
- In another small bowl add the remaining frosting and mix in the black food coloring and stir until you get the desired color.
- Place frosting in piping bag fitted with a medium writer tip. Pipe the frosting onto the cake in the shape of the Jack Skellington face. (I had a picture of the face next to me and used a toothpick to trace into the frosting before piping).
- Decorate the edges of the cake with desired designs!
- Cut and serve!
- As noted in recipe I used a Jack Skellington picture on my laptop and free hand traced the outline in the frosting with toothpick before piping with the black frosting.
